Our Story

Two sides, one love story

Every love story has two sides — here's ours, told the way we each remember it.

Hers

Jennifer

It started at a bags tournament, when a handsome stranger offered to help lift the boards out of my car. The very next weekend I found myself at a bonfire at his house — and by the end of the night I'd decided he was funny, cute, and welcoming. He even talked me into trying seafood… which, for the record, is still not my thing.

Afterward we all headed to the bar, and our friends wouldn't stop nudging us together until we finally danced. I knew he was the one when I realized I wanted to spend all my time with him — he has this gift for making even the most ordinary day feel like something special.

And when I saw him drop to one knee, my heart overflowed with joy, and with gratitude that God placed him in my life.

His

Zaveian

Flash back to that bags tournament: I spotted this cute girl struggling to wrestle her bag set out of her car — and I sprinted over to help. The next weekend, Jen came to a bonfire at my place, and she was laughing at almost everything I said (so cute). Later we all headed to the bars, where her girlfriends kept telling me how amazing Jen is — that she's a teacher, and that I really should dance with her and get to know her. So I did.

Fast forward to Halloween. After months of talking every single day, I knew she was the one when I asked her to dress up as the Minions with me — and without hesitation, she did ().

Jokes aside: I knew Jen was going to be my wife when I realized just how special she is, and how deeply she cares for everyone around her. When I finally asked her to marry me, my head was racing with emotion — every thought a happy one, and all of it pure excitement to spend forever with Jen.

Good to Know

Frequently asked

When should I RSVP by?

Please reply by May 5, 2027, so we can share final counts with our venues. You can RSVP right here on this site.

What's the dress code?

Formal attire — think floor-length gowns and suits or tuxedos. We'll be celebrating into the evening, so dress to feel wonderful and ready for the dance floor.

Are the ceremony and reception in the same place?

No — the ceremony is at St. Michael Church in Wheaton, and the reception follows at St. Andrew's in West Chicago, about a 20-minute drive away.

How do I get from the ceremony to the reception?

If you're staying at our room-block hotel, a shuttle will take you to the ceremony and on to the reception — so you won't need to drive. Otherwise, you're welcome to drive yourself; both venues have parking, and it's about a 20-minute trip between them.

Is there parking at both venues?

Yes — there's parking at St. Michael Church for the ceremony, and St. Andrew's offers overnight parking at the reception, so you're welcome to leave your car and pick it up the next day.

Is there an open bar?

Yes — drinks are on us! Please note the bar will be closed during the hour-and-a-half dinner service, then open again for the rest of the night.

Can I bring a plus-one?

To keep our celebration intimate, we're keeping the guest list by invitation only. Your invitation will list the exact number of seats reserved in your name — if you have any questions, just reach out to us.

Are kids welcome?

KIDS ARE WELCOME — THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN AS STATED ON YOUR INVITATION. THE VENUE REQUIRES CHILDREN TO REMAIN SEATED FOR THE ENTIRE HOUR-AND-A-HALF DINNER SERVICE, FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN AND THE STAFF. IF YOUR CHILDREN CANNOT ADHERE TO THESE RULES, WE WILL BE SAD TO MISS THEM, BUT HOPE YOU CAN MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS.

What time should I arrive?

Please be seated at the church by 2:45 PM so we can begin the ceremony on time at 3:00 PM.

Who can I contact with questions?

Reach out to us anytime and we'll be happy to help — we're so excited to celebrate with you.
